Auto Hold Option in Video Poker

When it comes to playing video poker there is an optimal strategy for each different version. Some players would prefer not to have to learn every different strategy so they choose to use the auto hold option.

When you play online video poker in the normal mode you choose to hold or discard your five cards. When you choose the auto hold option the computer will automatically hold and discard according to the optimum strategy for that video poker machine.

When players choose to use the auto hold option in video poker they may have to play with a second payout table that will be a bit lower than the normal payout table. That would seem to indicate that using the auto hold feature is good for the player because the online casino lowers the payout amount when it is used.

The bottom line with the auto hold feature is that you should be using it only if you don’t know optimal video poker strategy. You always want to be holding the correct cards so if you don’t know what to do then choose the auto hold option.

Keep in mind that when you do use the auto play option the computer makes all of your choices so it may take some of the fun out of the game and optimal strategy may not always be the strategy you want to use if you are trying to hit a royal flush.
